Field Station

Kyoto University has established a number of field stations as hubs for researchers’ and students’ field activities around the world. Each field station is run for collaborative research and education under various collaborations with partner organizations. These stations support researchers and students not only from Japan but also from the partner countries and are expanding and enhancing Kyoto University’s international network. Collaborative workshops and symposiums offer opportunities to present scientific findings back to partner societies. In Southeast Asia, the field stations have been in Makassar (Indonesia), Hồ Chí Minh (Vietnam), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Vientiane (Laos), Yezin and Yangon (Myanmar) and two new stations are to be launched in Pekanbaru (Indonesia) and Kuching (Malaysia). This project will further activate these field stations, promote relations between them, and further contribute to Kyoto University’s international research and education.

We also have provide funding for graduates who go into the field to conduct research.
