The 7th East Asian Island and Ocean Forum (EAIOF) 2019 was held during November 27-30, 2019 at Pukyong National University in Busan, South Korea. Eleven institutes from Japan, China, Korea, and Taiwan established the EAIOF in 2013 to develop cooperative discussion and academic activities on diverse issues related to human cultures and ecoenvironments in the islands of the East Asian region. I made a presentation titled “Long-Term Survey of Food Consumption on Pingelap Island, the Federated States of Micronesia,” and I discussed my research topic with participants for my future study. Other topics discussed in this forum included the biodiversity, economy, fishery, ecotourism, literature, history, and traditional knowledge of marine resources of the small islands. After all the presentations, participants discussed how to create an academic platform to communicate issues of sustainability and coexistence of islands in the East Asian region.
