Overview

Changing Village Development and Citizens’ Participation in Indonesia under the New Village Law of 2014

This project is to analyze changing village development and citizens’ participation in Indonesia under the new Village Law of 2014. This law enables central government to transfer fund directly to the village level. Village citizens are expected to engage more in checking the use of this fund. I analyze the variations of citizen’s engagement in this issue among regions. The field I plan to do survey are five provinces in Java islands and two provinces in Sumatra island. To provide analysis on this important institutional change timely is of social significance.
