Elite Networks and Circulation in the Philippines and East Asia

My research deals with the historical formation, trajectory, and cultural and political consequences of elites in the Philippines and East Asia more generally.

Nationalism and Literature in the Philippines

My long-term research on Philippine literary history and criticism deals with the issue of nationalism and its influence on Filipino writings in English, Filipino, and Chinese.

Chinese Overseas in the Philippines and Southeast Asia

!I have done extensive research on the Overseas Chinese and Chinese Overseas, with particular emphasis in literary, cinematic, and cultural production, in the Philippines and Southeast Asia more generally.
