A Collaborative Approach to Understanding Cross-Border Mobilities in Timor<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n

\n Drawing from the empirical and methodological best practices of the fields of anthropology, geography and cultural\/religious studies, this project seeks to cultivate a ground-up understanding of the multi-faceted nature and possibilities of \u201cmobility\u201d in the Timor region. Various private and public actors in Timor all interact with each other in fluid and subtle ways that cannot be understood from an exclusively \u2018top-down\u2019 nation-state centric analysis. We submit that productive knowledge outcomes about mobility can occur when we problematize the analytical and spatial boundaries between West Timor (Indonesia) and East Timor. What is required to pursue such an approach is to work in concert with local agents in both sides of the political border in pursuing fieldwork-based, locally embedded empirical groundwork.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n
