The Vietnamese industry is<br \/>\nnot an exception within the world rice market, it is presently deprived<br \/>\nof derivative trading. Another major Vietnamese agricultural industry,<br \/>\ncoffee, developped within a financialized framework, with the existence<br \/>\nof OTC contracts traded locally, governmental attempts to set up local<br \/>\nfutures contracts, and \/an international futures market in London,\/. In<br \/>\nthis context, I question what lessons the Vietnamese rice industry can<br \/>\ndraw from its coffee counterpart in the prospect of financialization. \/<\/p>\n<p><strong>Presenter<\/strong>:<br \/>\nMr. Sulian Liz\u00e9 is a PhD Candidate in International Development,<br \/>\nThe University of Edinburgh, and a Visiting Research Fellow, CSEAS<br \/>\nKyoto University.
