I am a Guest Research Associate (JASSO Follow-up Research Fellowship) at CSEAS, Kyoto University. I study protest policing, counterinsurgency and politics in Malaysia. My current writing project traces the shifts in protest policing tactics and modes of governmentality deployed by the state in Kuala Lumpur over the last decade or so. I hold a PhD in Southeast Asian Area Studies from ASAFAS, Kyoto University, and have been lecturing in sociology, philosophy and film studies at the Multimedia University Malaysia, Johor Bahru.
