Last year the IPCR-CSEAS started a new type of research collaboration (Type VII) aimed at promoting young researchers’ participation in international conferences. This new initiative is a response to the high expectations for young researchers’ capacity to expand the dissemination of their original research findings internationally, which has been expressed on several occasions including the discussions at the past IPCR annual meetings. In this regard, moreover, CSEAS’s extensive international scholarly networks can be regarded as a significant opportunity that should be utilized effectively in collaboration with the IPCR as well. In the year of 2017, IPCR-CSEAS (Type VII) assisted the dispatch of young scholars toward three international conference/seminar/workshop.
- “Political Developments in Southeast Asia: Democracy Versus Authoritarianism” (August 25ー26, 2017: Seoul, South Korea)
- The 41st Southeast Asia Seminar: “Economic Development in Laos and the Greater Mekong Region” (November 2ー7, 2017: Vientiane, Laos)
- CSEAS-CSEAS Workshop of Young Scholars on Southeast Asian Studies (November 24ー25, 2017: Taipei, Taiwan)
