Outline of Research
This research will develop a model Open Science infrastructure that will allow users to share not only research materials, but also citation data and libraries’ holding data. It will be benefical for research communities in Southeast Asia, Japan, and other regions. The purpose of this research is to publish Open Science materials for Southeast Asian Studies on a trial basis, thereby presenting new prospects for the utilization of materials in the field of Southeast Asian Studies. To do this, we will investigate 1) the current status of citations of Southeast Asia study materials, and 2) whether the materials cited by reseachers are held in institutional libraries. The findings will be published on the website of this project.
Description
The purpose of this research is to publish Open Science materials for Southeast Asian studies, thereby presenting new prospects for the utilization of materials in Southeast Asian studies. We plan to focus on openly sharing citation data including how journal articles, books, and web information have been cited in Southeast Asian Studies and library holding data. To fulfill these purposes, we investigate 1) the current status of citations for Southeast Asia study materials, and 2) whether the materials cited by reseachers are held in institutional libraries. The results will be published on the website of this project. In addition, we will present proposals for recommended scholarly communication in Southeast Asian studies for the next 25 years. This project will contribute to improved sharing of knowledge among Southeast Asian Studies academic communities.
The expected results of this research are as follows;
1) To show correlations between research materials and research outcomes by disclosing the analyzed data on citations and library holdings in the field of Southeast Asian Studies.
2) To provide complehensive data on the circulation of Southeast Asian Studies-related academic information and research outcomes in the era of web publishing.
3) To provide a model of an Open Science infrastructure to facilitate the building of a common platform to share information and knowledge among scholars in both Japan and the Southeast Asia.
