The Wood Research Institute (presently Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere), Kyoto University, Japan and the Faculty of Forestry, Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (presently Universiti Putra Malaysia) had made a cooperative research on “Wood Physiology and Wood Technology” as a part of the JSPS Cooperation Programmes with Southeast Asian Countries under the General Exchange System from FY1984 to FY1993. A number of new scientific findings and important technological developments had been achieved on this research project by exchanging more than thirty wood scientists.
