Research Interests

Fascism in the Dutch East Indies and the Origin of Suharto's Dictatorship.

I am presently writing a book on the above mentioned topic but my publication covers: history, history of ideas, language and politics, and classical music and how it relates to gamelan, that's traditional music of Java and Bali.
As my first book draws to completion, and hopefully will be finished during my stay here at CSEAS, my next research will be about the role of Indonesian students within resistance movement in Holland during Nazi occupation of WW II. So my field of interests are not far from fascism, but always it should have some Indonesian flavor in it.
