Ang Equatorial Atmosphere Radar (EAR) ay nagsimula ng pangmatagalan at patuloy na pagmamasid mula noong Hunyo 2001 nang pinasinayaan ito sa mahigpit na pagtutulungan ng LAPAN (National Institute of Aeronautics and Space of Indonesia). Ang EAR, kasama ang iba pang mga instrumentong radar at optikal, ay malaki ang naitulong sa aming pag-aaral sa dinamiko ng atmospera sa rehiyong Indones na nagsimula bandang gitna ng dekada otsenta. Mula 2005, ang EAR ay pinapatakbo bilang pasilidad para sa internasyunal na kolaboratibong pag-aaral. Maaaring makilahok sa programang ito ang mga syentipiko mula sa Japan, Indonesia, at iba pang mga bansa.

Ang Coupling Process in the Equatorial Atmosphere (CPEA) ay proyektong pananaliksik na isinagawa sa loob ng anim na taon, mula taong piskal 2001, bilang Scientific Research of Priority Areas of Grant-in-aid for Scientific Research na tinangkilik ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon, Kultura, Palakasan, Agham at Teknolohiya. Pinag-aaralan sa proyektong ito ang mga dinamikong coupling process sa ekwatoryal na atmospera sa pamamagitan ng pagsasagawa ng iba’t ibang pagmamasid sa rehiyong ekwatoryal sa Indonesia na nakasentro sa Equatorial Atmosphere Radar (EAR). Ang CPEA Symposium ay inilunsad sa pagtatapos ng proyekto, at matagumpay na dinaluhan ng 172 na kasapi mula sa labing-walong bansa/rehiyon.
