7. 概要：We observed the transformation of a rice-growing village in Northeast Thailand during the last two decades when Thai economy has rapidly grown. During the period, what was changed and was not changed in agricultural production and rural economy? The speaker will discuss the impacts of rapid economic growth on rural livelihood and the difference in development patterns between Thailand and Japan.

7. 概要：Swidden agriculture is a traditional farming system widely observed at mountain regions of Southeast Asia. The emergence of global environmental issues highlighted it as one of the major causes of deforestation. However, we found that swidden agriculture is supported by a wide range of knowledge and experiences of local people on how to use and manage forest resources.
