Since its inception, the Kyoto Review of Southeast Asia, a multilingual online journal, has aimed at promoting the mutual understanding of issues between Japan and intellectuals in Southeast Asia. Each issue has carried a salient theme attuned to concerns in the region along with book reviews. Recent issues have focused on the “living and dead” and “monarchies” in Southeast Asia.
