Title: Development at Program and Non Program Villages: A Comparative Study
Abstract:
Bangladesh is predominantly an agricultural country. It has been found in various studies that due to rural development interventions made by government through development projects or cooperatives helped change of socio economic conditions of the rural people in Bangladesh. Farm productivity, creating employment opportunities and income as well as savings and investment in the rural areas have also increased. For further improvement of performance of the program it is an imperative to study the extent of changes, the contributing factors, major beneficiaries, resource ownership, problems and challenges have been facing by the beneficiaries. Therefore, an attempt was made through this study to drive a comparative picture of socio economic changes between the people of program and non-program villages. The general objective of the study is to identify contributions of development programs on socio economic changes of the rural beneficiaries. The specific objectives of the study are; (i)to compare and contrast the nature and extent of socio economic development of the beneficiaries of the program and non-program villages; (ii) to identify the contributing factors influences rural development in the study villages; (iii) to suggest future strategies for further improvement of program.
